We are departing from our typical blog topics to commemorate a pivotal moment in world history. Today is the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, which occurred on June 6, 1944. At daybreak, as part of Operation Overlord, thousands of allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. Despite heavy losses and casualties, the victory of the allied forces on D-Day changed the course of the entire war. With the successful infiltration of France, D-Day propelled the allies closer to freeing mainland Europe from the clutches of Nazi control. The war would end just over a year later, on September 2, 1945.

To all who served, the worldwide community thanks you for your bravery and heroism on D-Day, and beyond. Your sacrifice to defend freedom and liberty will never be forgotten.
